Security Blanket
"Security Blanket" was such a
tender piece to create. I visited
with a kindergarten class and
asked that they talk about what
makes them feel loved and safe.
They voiced their feelings so
readily and truthfully, of course.
I then gave each child a little,
flat plastiline clay square, and
asked that they draw or carve
into the square a picture
illustrating their feelings of
love and safety. Some drew
(good attempts) their family,
or some just drew their mother or father.
One little girl drew her pillow,
another her dog, and several
drew symbols of their faith.
Each square is so precious!
I assembled all of the squares
into a clay "quilt" to envelope
a little girl.
