Shawn Cameron

Shawn is an award-winning artist who paints the Western ranch life she and her family have lived for over 150 years.  Her subjects are real and their story is true for she captures everyday moments in the lives of her family and neighbors as they work and preserves them for posterity on canvas.

Although primarily self-taught she has been mentored by several artists she admired but is especially grateful to Bill Owen - Cowboy Artist of America, who shared much, including his understanding of color.  She is grateful to the Lord for guiding her art journey which includes show participation in such as the Prix de West, the Night of Artists, the C. M. Russell Show where she was a co-featured artist with Martin Grelle, Cowgirl Up! The Other Side of the West and many more including Honorary Artist Membership in the Mountain Oyster Show in Tucson, AZ.   She was recently honored as the “Master of Fine Art - Artist” for Arizona’s The Art of the Cowgirl.  In addition to past articles, she was recently featured in two publications, the February/March 2024 Southwest Art Magazine titled “The Real Thing” and, also, a in the March/April 2024 The American Quarter Horse Journal.  Her art has graced the cover of magazines such as Western Horseman, Western Art Collector and American Cowboy.  Shawn has twice received the Governor’s Choice Award at Cowgirl Up! and in 2020 the Desert Caballeros Museum purchased “Dusty Haze” as part of their permanent collection.  In 2022 the American Quarter Horse Museum’s America’s Horse in Art presented her with the “Steel Dust Award” for Best of Show.

Continuing to grow and improve is a lifelong goal and one that gives her much joy!  She feels privileged and grateful to tell the true story of the cowboy and rancher through her art.
